"Huinnyeoul" (흰여울) 

 is 

a purely Korean word 

meaning 

 

a stream with clear water.

Huinnyeoul Culture Village 

used to be called 

 Isongdo Village 이송도.

 

   

 

 

During the Japanese colonial period,

 the first beach in Busan, Songdo, 

was opened opposite the village.

 However, 

the villagers thought  

that Huinnyeoul was even more beautiful 

than Songdo, 

so they called it  

 

the second Songdo 이송도

.

Later,

 

however, 

 

 

 the name 

Huinnyeoul  흰여울

was chosen 

in a public naming contest

 and 

the name of the village was changed.
